Greetings denizens of Internet. Remember the Brisbane Band Poster? Since it got released, I’ve been working with the State Library of Queensland on it, and now it’s part of the Live! QLD Band Culture Exhibition. Which is cool. Libraries are wonderful. Music is wonderful. QLD music is infinitely wonderful cool. It’s plastered on a wall and it’s all very exciting.

The entire exhibition is mad and the peeps at SLQ have done an amazing job bringing it all together. It’s the biggest exhibition they’ve ever had and it covers the entirety of the Library.

For anyone who hasn’t realised yet, Libraries are fun and amazing now (though they always kind of were tbh). Especially SLQ. SLQ is bangin’ and does a fabulous job documenting and displaying the memories and history of QLD. In fact initally seeing this exhibition is probably the watershed moment for starting the poster in the first place.

So bottom line/ tl;dr : If you’re in Brisboner, get down to SLQ and take a look at Live.

But can I reiterate how great QLD music is? Because it’s fucking great. If you’ve haven’t ever turned a thought to the music in this cancerously sunny state, now is as good a time as any to start exploring. There’s something for everyone. EVERYONE. TRUST ME.

In regards to the poster: This still isn’t over yet, I want to turn it into a proper poster and send it out to all good folk interested. Which means if you see mistakes (which I know there are: ie calling Violent Soho Violet Soho. GURGH), missing bands, have hard-to-find pictures of 70’s - 00’s bands, PLEASE email me at cattodrums@gmail.com. As for a release date, unfortunatly it won’t be till sometime next year, I’m going on an exchange to Utah in August. So I won’t have time to work on it in between wrangling Mormons. Yeah.

PS. Pls do not read the caption on the wall that accompanies the drawing of me sitting on a toad. It is embarrass. Thank.

I’m going along on Monday afternoon (13th May) at about 3.30 to show some m8s. If anyone in the tumblrverse wants to come down and say hi and chat how amazing QLD music is, pls come on down.
